Old Grand-Dad 16-Year-Old Bourbon Whiskey
The Basics
Proof: 100
What I paid: ~$200
Distillery: Jim Beam
Style: Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Just The Sip
Quick Notes: Rich oak, cherry sweetness, and a nice rye spice kick on the finish.
Feel: Full-bodied, smooth, and incredibly crushable despite its age and proof.
The Verdict
Rating: 1 (Yes)
If you love older-aged bourbons with deep oak and cherry notes, this one delivers. But if price is your deciding factor, you might want to sit this one out.
Extra Thoughts
At $200, the price is tough to swallow, and I’ve heard disappointment from others who expected more for the cost. However, for me, this bottle is rich, satisfying, and outshines comparable bourbons like Knob Creek 18 and Elijah Craig 18. That said, while I’m happy to have one on my shelf, I won’t be hunting down a backup.
Hunting Info
Thanks to the price, I’ve seen this linger on shelves.
